Six by Six Kings and Queens Puzzle
We'll be visiting royalty today with this new puzzle, which involves Kings and Queens only. The idea is similar to previous puzzles where we fill each square with a chess piece, this time either a King or a Queen. Since Queens have a better range of attack, we balance things out by requiring exactly two Queens and four Kings in each row and each column. The clues for each piece indicate how many of the same piece that the piece in that square can attack if nothing else was in the way.
This one is a little easier than some of the other chess puzzles once you find a place to get started, so it's a great introduction if you haven't tried this type of puzzle before. I'm including a solved four by four puzzle with two Kings and two Queens in each row and column below, for anyone who might want an example to work off of. If you have tried these before and want more of a challenge, don't fret as there will be larger versions of this style of puzzle to come.
